CardioVascular Research Foundation (CVRF) was officially launched as
of September 4, 2002 with approval of establishing non-profit corporation
by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Korea. CVRF held the first meeting
of board of directors on October 17, 2002 and appointed members of the
Advisory Board. The Advisory Board consists of 23 who are distinguished
cardiologists, professor, congressman etc. from Korea and outside of the
country.
CVRF has been established to support an international conference, Angioplasty
Summit. It was originally conceived as an official supporting system for
the Angioplasty Summit, which was started in 1995 and now it has become
one of the major educational programs for interventional cardiologists
and radiologists, general cardiologists, cardiology fellows, residents,
technologists, and nurses in the Asian Pacific area.
After the establishment of the CVRF, we carried out the 8th Angioplasty
Summit successfully in spite of that the scale of the conference was intentionally
reduced from international conference to national conference due to unexpected
international influence such as SARS and Iraq war.
As a part of educational projects, summitMD.com, an educational program
on website opened in December 2002 is a clinical education-based program
and is currently in a prosperous condition, providing continuously updated
contents.
Workshop for interventional cardiologists is scheduled to hold twice
a year. In 2003, the first workshop has been held on January 17, 2003
and the 2nd workshop on July 4, 2003.
Besides, we started a short-term training program for young interventionists
in 2003 as one of the educational programs. The program for this fall
term begins October 1, 2006 and ends November 30, 2006. Next term is from
April 2007 to May 2007.
CVRF is also supplying research expenses for distinguished superior projects
in order to support the basic studies & multi institutional clinical
trials on cardiovascular diseases and interventional procedures to contribute
to the improvement in the health of Koreans. |
